Final project proposal

My final project will be a horror/comedy film titled “Beware of the 20.” In this project (the short film) I will be exploring the matter of the mysterious 2020 that we all experienced last year. And turning it into something funny to look back and laugh at, but also something that was extremely frightening that we all lived through. Giving the audience a sense of relatability but also humor. My project will include Component 1: Foundation Portfolio. It will attain assessment objectives 2,3, and 4. My research comes from blogs, short films, horror and comedy websites on the internet, and previous knowledge that I have from watching other horror and comedy films and films like mine. Because this is a group project, my group partners that I will be working with on this project is Jocabed J, Leea L., and Gianfranco P.

Targeted Audience

Different genre films have different types of targeted audience... And it is the same thing with horror films, not all horror films have the same audience. Because one type of horror may be less frighten than another horror movie.            The traditional and usual age audience that is a target for horror/comedy films... Is young adults and teenagers, being approximately the ages 15-27. Studies have shown that many young audiences are drawn toward graphic images and enjoy the entertainment that comes from the horror films.

Conventions of Horror & Comedy

To start to prepare for the horror/comedy film, my group and I will have to figure out all of our needs for our genre choices... And to do that we must learn all of the conventions of each genre. First, we need to use high-key lighting to frighten the audience so the horror part of the film can play out, natural lighting as well so at night time it can set the mood. We also need to have a weapon (any weapon to match the storyline or killer). Dark colors, such as red and black... To show that the darkness and harm that is going to occur.      The setting of the horror/comedy film must be in the woods, a graveyard, or a dark isolated place so the audience will know as soon as they see the setting this movie may be a horror film. The custom of the killer may be a mask or a dark outfit with their revealing face. The setting for the comedy scenes will be in public local areas making the film not only frightening, but also funny so it entertains the audience more.     The camera shots for

Research (part 2)

The type of movie my group members and I intend on doing is a combo or horror and comedy.. And yes! I said my group members and I, I finally decided on working in a group. Our film's theme is "there are good times and bad times, but you have to be ready and prepared at all times". The characters' style will be modern, they will look like the everyday people you see in life now.. Whether they are young or old.   Other movies similar to our film idea (like "scary movie": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eI24fookyA ) opening sequences look like the movie will be hilarious but a slightly frightening. In the example "scary movie", a man is on the phone trying to scare the female he is preying on. But she is clueless and quite ignorant so her responses/questions are dumb and funny, which makes the viewers laugh. The opening sequences are kind of like trailers... The characters and directors try to give us a hint on what the movie is about while we are

IDEAS..IDEAS..IDEAS

Lately I've been doing more and more research on documentaries, ever since I decided that would be one of my top 3 ideas for when I come to a final decision on Friday for my genre and film idea. Before most of this research I thought documentaries were literally just plain boring interviews.. I discovered a lot of new things that can help me during the process of this project.     First I need to talk about the needs to start the creation of the a documentary.. Like a hand held camera, a narrative voice over, and interviews with experts or people that were present in the event, and original footage/photos/evidence.      After getting all of my needs to start the film I will have to find out who I am going to interview and what specific questions am I going to ask them.. Once I figure out the people I am interviewing I will have to decide on a setting/area where I am going to shoot my documentary. Usually when I see interviews and the recent interviews I researched, it's a

Research and Planning ..

I've been doing a lot of thinking and researching. And I feel as if my best genre choice for the type of film I have in mind would be a documentary. But you can never be too sure, so I'm still debating on my final decision. It may take a while, possibly a couple days to come to a final decision.. But the second I figure out which genre I'm doing for sure, I'm getting straight to work.     I watched a few short films slightly similar to my idea, because there was not really any examples on the idea I have for my film.. Due to the fact it's kind of a new topic to the community and creative. In all honesty, I truly love my idea but I'm not really sure I'll be able to pull it off due to my environment and not having the proper tools or for say equipment.. I really want to just tell you guys, but UGHHH!! I don't want to spoil the surprise :(.  If I don't feel like my original idea is going to come out the way I plan it to in the following week, I hav

Decision, Decisions, Decisions...

To begin with, I have to decide on a genre in order to start my planning process so I can kick off the beginning of my project afterwards. But the problem is I don't know which genre to select. I enjoy almost all genres but the few that I have in mind to actually film are tough to decide between as well. Because I have to look at which genre I am going to have the capability to actually film due to my environment and equipment.       I was kind of thinking about romance, realistic literature, literary fiction, or thriller. These genres came to thought because I enjoy all of these greatly and because they all make sense with the overall idea for the film. I've currently been watching examples of others films on YouTube, and even watched full movies for the genres. I needed more education on certain genres like realistic literature and literary fiction.      My favorite movie genres are romance and comedy. So, those possibly could be my top two or final decisions. Because s
